Fillers

Fillers Q & A

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are an injectable, non-surgical treatment for wrinkles, folds, and other signs of aging that result from diminishing facial fat.

Over time, the deep pads of fat that support your skin decrease in volume. This alters the youthful V-shaped facial structure with high cheekbones to more of an A-shaped structure that droops toward the lower face.

Dr. Kevin Jovanovic provides customized filler treatments to blur this transition. With a natural eye for aesthetics, he restores the lost volume and smoothes the contours of your skin to create a natural, youthful look.

What do dermal fillers treat?

Dr. Kevin Jovanovic uses dermal fillers to improve many common signs of aging, including:

  • Thin lips
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Hollowed temples
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Fine to severe facial lines and wrinkles
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Folds that run from the nose to mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • Marionette lines that run from the mouth to chin
  • Loose skin and loss of volume in hands

Dr. Kevin Jovanovic carefully evaluates your skin to determine if you’re a good candidate for dermal fillers.

Depending on your desired outcome, they may recommend dermal fillers in combination with other treatments, such as Botox®

What are the types of fillers?

Dr. Jovanovic offers a variety of fillers to accommodate a wide range of needs. Different dermal filler products include:

  • Juvéderm® fillers, including Vollure™, Volbella®, Voluma®, Ultra, and Ultra Plus
  • Restylane® Silk, Lyft, Refyne™, and Defyne™
  • Radiesse®

Each type of dermal filler offers its own unique properties. Certain products last up to 18 months.

What should I expect from a dermal filler procedure?

The first step in getting dermal fillers is a private consultation with Dr. Kevin Jovanovic. They may ask you to bring in a photo of yourself at a younger age to help recreate your youthful looks naturally.

Dermal fillers don’t require downtime for recovery, but some patients experience mild bruising, swelling, and redness at the injection sites. This typically goes away within a few days and maybe reduced if you take oral arnica and bromelain before and after treatment.
